Quintessence Theatre Group was founded in 2009 with a mission to build a progressive, classic, repertory, ensemble theatre for 21st century Philadelphia. Now entering our sixth season, Quintessence has produced 22 shows including a world-premiere adaptation of Plato's The Apology and Dumas' The Three Musketeers.
Several productions have been presented in rotating repertory, including: The Merchant of Venice/The Venetian Twins, Arms and the Man/ The Misanthrope, Hamlet/ She Stoops to Conquer, As You Like It/Richard II
In 2013, Quintessence presented its first annual family holiday show, with The Wind in the Willows. The tradition continued with Simon Reade's adaptation of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, in 2014.
