Summer Theatre Camp

Quintessence Theatre Group is proud to announce the launch of the QTG Summer Camp at the Sedgwick Theater in Mt. Airy! If your child or student has an interest in the Arts and is seeking a quality experience taught by professionals in the field, then the QTG Summer Camps is where they should be. Each class is limited to 12 students. With generous support from East Mt. Airy Neighbors, a limited number of scholarships are available for students enrolled in Mt. Airy schools. Students will work with seasoned professionals in group sessions as well as receive individual attention. Camp Director, Jahzeer Terrell, is an experienced educator, actor and musician.
All classes meet one day a week for 90 minutes.
Space is limited so sign up now. Secure a place with a $75 deposit (remainder due on first day of class). Last day for sign up May 31st.

Voice and Theater: Students will develop speaking skills as well as learn tips on how to care for their voices as an instrument.
Instructor: Anita Holland

1:15pm - 2:45pm (Ages 16-18)
Boost!: This class is for those who may need an extra boost in public speaking skills. Students will work on presentation skills. From school reports to stage performances, students will gain tips on how to overcome shyness and improve self-confidence.

Acting as a Career: Students will be introduced to the business of acting as a profession. Instructor will cover actor development and training, career options, audition tips, finding work, headshots and more.

Stage Acting: Students will be introduced to the world of theatrical acting. Stage directions and language, performance tips and coaching.

Instructors and Staff:
Jahzeer Terrell – Camp Director: Jahzeer Terrell is a Philadelphia based Actor, Educator, and Musician. His work as an educator began at the New Freedom Theater in Philadelphia where he taught Acting, Movement, and Stage Combat for a number of years. He continues his work as an instructor at Germantown Friends School where he teaches Stage Combat. As an actor and musician, he has been seen in a wide range of productions in the greater Philadelphia area- including Quintessence. He strives to produce work that stirs the soul, and adds a pinch of magic into a world that no longer believes.
Anita Holland – Voice and Theater: Anita Holland is a Philadelphia based artist who has worked with theater, drag and dance companies such as Applied Mechanics, Quintessence, Interact, Flashpoint, Orbiter 3, PAPA and more. She enjoys digging deep into the layers of language and finding pockets of beautiful imperfection to bring to the surface.
Nia Stanley – Boost!: A recent high school graduate, Nia Stanley began training as a performer at the Freedom Theatre where she learned dance, acting and vocal skills. She has also trained and performed with various dance studios, directors and local performing arts clubs.
Thiniyi Terrell – Boost!: Born to a family of musicians and artists, Thiniyi was performing by the time she was 12. She cultivated the craft of theatre, dance and voice at the Freedom Theatre and at Virginia State University where she majored in music and elementary education. She has been a professional drama and music – and African Martial arts – instructor her entire career at programs in Philadelphia and Camden.
Frank Nardi – Acting as a Career: Frank Nardi has worked with young adults since he was a young adult. Using his education from the University of the Arts, he led the Pennsauken Alliance of Performing Arts program for 7 summers. At the university, he was president of the improv troupe, Playground Champions. After graduation, he returned to teach improv for the University of the Arts’ Pre-College Program for incoming Freshmen. Currently, Frank is working with the Philadelphia Young Playwrights, a program that works with high school students across the Delaware Valley, and teaches at the Arden Theatre.
Richard Chan – Stage Acting: Richard Chan is a local Philadelphia actor and musician. A Richmond, VA native, he moved to Philadelphia after graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater. Aside from his involvement in theatre and film, Richard has also been a guest teaching artist and martial arts instructor.
