LEAD AND ASSISTANT TEACHING ARTISTS

Status: Part Time/Non-Exempt. Application materials will be accepted on a rolling basis and remain on file as teaching opportunities arise.

Salary Range: $35-$60/hr. for teaching and facilitation; $15-$25/hr. for prep and administrative duties

Quintessence Theater Group (QTG) seeks Lead and Assistant Teaching Artists for our ongoing educational offerings that include our regular class series; residency, afterschool, and workshop programs; and teacher-training intensives. Because QTG educational programs serve a range of participants (kindergarten to adults), our education department invites artist-educators with a variety of teaching experiences to apply. Depending on the program, Quintessence will provide adaptable lesson plans or collaborate with the teaching artist in the development of new programs.

Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate in the facilitation and development of lesson plans for courses, workshops, and residencies.

  • Manage classrooms that range from 8 to 25 students.

  • Uphold QTG’s commitment to anti-racism, equity and inclusion. 

  • Work closely with the education department to enhance and adjust lesson plans for a variety of student populations.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s or some graduate school experience preferred, but high school graduate or equivalent acceptable with teaching experience.

  • Two to three years related work in arts education.

  • Ability to work in-person, at Quintessence and Philadelphia schools. 

  • Must have or be able to pass necessary clearance for work in schools with minors: 

    • PA State Criminal Background Check (PATCH)

    • Child Abuse History Clearance

    • FBI Background Check 

  • Acting and Directing experience necessary. Candidates with additional experience in Dramaturgy, Design, Playwriting, and/or Devised Performance experience encouraged to apply.

BOX OFFICE/FRONT OF HOUSE ASSOCIATES

Reports to: Box Office Manager and House Manager

Status: Part Time/Non-Exempt

Schedule: Evenings and Weekends

Salary: $15/hour

Quintessence Theater Group (QTG) seeks Box Office and Front of House Associates to join us for Season XIII. Box Office/Front of House Associates are the first faces to welcome Quintessence audiences and a crucial part of the theatre’s team. Staff members will be cross trained in will call, concessions, and front of house duties working shifts for each position as needed. Scheduling is generally flexible with shifts available evenings and weekends. Successful applicants should possess superb customer service skills, the ability to maintain calm under pressure, and an appreciation for theatre.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with ticket purchases, in person and over the phone

  • Manage communication through the Box Office hotline and email account during shifts

  • Print, organize and distribute tickets at the Will Call station

  • Deliver consistent and exceptional Customer Service

  • Set up the Concessions station, sell food and beverages before the show and during intermission

  • Assist in training and supervising volunteer ushers

  • Troubleshoot any patron issues or concerns

  • Create nightly reports, including calculating cash sales and inventory

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but high school graduate or equivalent acceptable

  • An appreciation for theatre and the arts

  • Previous experience in customer or client services

  • The front of house schedule is flexible, but evening and weekend availability is a necessity

  • Knowledge of CRM platforms (PatronManager, OvationTix, etc) is a plus but not required

CASTING

Auditions for specific productions are held in Philadelphia and New York as needed throughout the year. Quintessence hires both local and out of town actors and designers. Quintessence also attends the Philadelphia general auditions, which are usually held in the spring.
