CHARACTER RESIDENCY PROGRAM
GRADES 3-6
The goal of QTG’s Character Residency Program is to encourage literacy by pairing of classics (broadly interpreted) and interactive dramatic games. As students explore what it means to interpret and develop characters from classical literature, they experience character building activities that teach social skills, critical thinking, and collaboration. Character Residencies work towards performances that allow students to share their own interpretations and responses to literature while strengthening their confidence in reading classics and empowering their own voices as active participation in their community.
“SPEAK THE SPEECH” WORKSHOPS
GRADES 6-12
Welcome Quintessence actors into your classroom to bring Shakespeare to life. In minutes, your students will be up on their feet, learning the nuances of actor exercises, poetic analysis, and character development. Just as these individualized workshops are easily adaptable to accommodate whatever plays your students are reading, they can also adjust for new and advanced classrooms to explore the challenge and the beauty of Shakespeare in performance.
CLASSICS COME TO LIFE
GRADES 4-12
Quintessence Teaching Artists will adapt pieces of classic literature and direct your students in a performance. Our rehearsal and production processes are focused on ensemble-building, text analysis, and the development of creativity and social skills. All productions are original adaptations of Shakespeare, Fairy Tales, Folk Lore, Mythology and Classic Literature specifically tailored for young actors and young audiences.
